Overnight Oats 7 Ways

Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day but so many of us don’t have time to make a healthy nutritious breakfast. Overnight Oats are a great breakfast choice as you can make them the night before and grab them as you’re going out the door!

Original Overnight Oats

Serves 2

Ingredients –

  • 1 cup of steel cut oats
  • 1 cup of nut milk of your choice
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • You choice of topping/s – Berries, Diced Fruit, Shredded Coconut, Bee Pollen, Nuts, Cacao Nibs, etc.

Method –

  1. Combine all ingredients (you can include the toppings in this step if you wish) in a jar and mix well.
  2. Place in the fridge and leave overnight.
  3. Serve the next day with any of the topping you left out.

 

Apple Crumble Overnight Oats

Serves 1

Ingredients –

  • 1 large apple with the skin left on – grated
  • ½ cup steel cut oats
  • 1 teaspoon of chia seeds
  • ½ teaspoon of cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt
  • ¼ cup plain Greek yoghurt
  • ¾ cup nut milk
  • 1 tablespoon of desiccated coconut
  • Apple Slices – optional
  • Honey – optional

Method –

  1. Mix all ingredients except for the desiccated coconut in a jar and when mixed thoroughly top with desiccated coconut, seal tightly with the lid and leave in the fridge to soak overnight.
  2. In the morning you can top with apple slices and honey.

 

Pina Colada Overnight Oats

Serves 3

Ingredients –

  • 1 cup of steel cut oats
  • 2 tablespoons of chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • ¼ cup of plain Greek yoghurt
  • 1 and ½ cups of coconut milk
  • ½ - 1 cup of diced pineapple
  • 2 tablespoons of desiccated coconut
  • Pine apple chunks – optional

Method –

  1. Combine all ingredients together and mix well.
  2. Separate into 3 jars and seal with the lids and sit in the fridge overnight.
  3. Serve with extra pineapple chunks

 

Chocolate Overnight Oats –

Serves 3

Ingredients –

  • 2 cups steel cut oats
  • 2 tablespoons of cacao
  • 1 and a ½ cups nut milk
  • ½ vanilla pod – scraped
  • 3 large Medjool dates – finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • Sprinkle of cacao nibs

Method –

  1. Mix all ingredients except for the cacao nibs together and put into 3 separate jars with the lids on in the fridge overnight.
  2. Serve with a sprinkling of cacao nibs.

 

Berry and Nut Overnight Oats –

Serves 1

Ingredients –

  • ½ cup nut milk
  • ½ cup steel cut oats
  • ½ cup mixed berries such as blueberries, raspberries, blackberries. If using strawberries dice up
  • 1 – 2 tablespoons of mixed chopped nuts such as almonds, walnuts, cashews, etc.
  • 1/3 vanilla bean pod scraped
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Method - 

  1. Combine all ingredients in a jar and mix well.
  2. Seal with the lid and place in the fridge overnight.

 

Nutty Sweet Potato and Maple Syrup Overnight Oats

Serves 2

Ingredients –

  • 1 cup cooked mashed sweet potato
  • 1 – 2 tablespoons of mixed chopped nuts such as almonds, walnuts, cashews, etc.
  • ½ cup steal cut oats
  • 1 tablespoon of maple syrup
  • ½ cup almond milk
  • ¾ cup almond milk
  • ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • ½ scraped vanilla pod
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds

 

Method –

  1. In a blender mix the sweet potato, ½ cup almond milk, cinnamon and nutmeg until well combined.
  2. Keep in a jar in the fridge overnight.
  3. In a jar, combine all other ingredients except for the nuts and maple syrup and mix well.
  4. Keep in a sealed jar overnight.
  5. In the morning combine both jar mixtures and top with the nuts and maple syrup.

 

Peanut Butter and Jam Overnight Oats

Serves 2

Ingredients –

  • 1 cup of steal cut oats
  • ½ cup raspberries (you can swap for blueberries, strawberries or blackberries)
  • 2 – 3 tablespoons of natural 100% peanut butter (you can swap for any sort of nut butter)
  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • ¼ Greek yoghurt
  • 1 teaspoon of chia seeds
  • 1 vanilla pod – scraped
  • Pinch salt

Method –

  1. Mash the berries in a bowl and add the chia seeds.
  2. Microwave for a minute the mash more and set aside.
  3. Mix all other ingredients together until well combined.
  4. Blend the two mixtures together in a large bowl and then spoon into two separate jars.
  5. Leave in the fridge overnight and serve in the morning.
