3 Smoothies for Gut Health
Let these smoothies ease you bloating and heavy stomach. The key ingredients in each smoothie is ginger, yoghurt and pineapple.
Ginger improves digestions, prevents bloating, decreases gas and relieves nausea. The probiotics in yoghurt work to restore good gut bacteria, whilst the pineapple is naturally rich in fibre to help improve digestion.
GINGER BREKKIE ON-THE-GO SMOOTHIE
The following recipe makes a 600ml smoothie.
INGREDIENTS:
1 tbs Bircher muesli, soaked
1 orange, peeled
1⁄2 tsp turmeric
1 knob fresh ginger, grated
1.5 cups rice milk
METHOD:
Blitz all ingredients in a blender until desired consistency is achieved.
MANGO LASSI SMOOTHIE (PICTURED)
The following recipe makes a 600ml smoothie.
INGREDIENTS:
1⁄2 a mango cheek
1 tbs coconut yoghurt
2 kefir lime leaves
2 tsp chia seeds
1.5 cups coconut milk
METHOD:
Blitz all ingredients in a blender until desired consistency is achieved.
GREEN AVOCOLADA
The following recipe makes a 600ml smoothie.
INGREDIENTS:
1⁄2 avocado
1 cup spinach
1⁄4 pineapple
1⁄4 peeled lime
1.5 cups coconut water
METHOD:
Blitz all ingredients in a blender until desired consistency is achieved.
SERVING SUGGESTION:
Serve this smoothie as a breakfast bowl in half a papaya topped with your favourite superfoods.
