Stay Hydrated This Summer
It's no secret that when the heat starts rising our water intake has to increase, water carries heat away from the internal organs, regulates body temperature and is preventative of damage and heat stroke. Water consumption is especially important as the temperature increases, here is a few tips to stay hydrated this summer.
Drink Plenty of Water
Don’t just drink water when you are thirsty, dehydration is avoided by drinking constantly throughout the day. Keep a water bottle in the car, at home and on your desk, having a bottle in your view will constantly remind you to stay hydrated.
Eat Foods high in Water
Wanting another way to increase water consumption? Eat foods that have a high water content. Foods such as watermelon, cucumber, eggplant, zucchini, lettuce, celery, tomatoes etc. are extremely hydrating. Most fruits and vegetables are a fantastic source of vitamins, minerals and of course water!
Use an App
If you regularly forget to drink water then perhaps an app will help you to increase your water consumption. You can download an app to your phone that regularly reminds you to drink water! This app can even be linked to a specific water bottle and your water consumption can be tracked and monitored!
Drink Detox Water
Detox water is a fun and flavourful method to make drinking water fun. Choose your favourite fruits, spices or herbs and add them to your water. Not only will they naturally flavour your water you will get the natural benefits you would if consuming the foods themselves.
Coconut water
Coconut water is a hydrating alternative to sugary energy drinks. Naturally high in electrolytes and potassium, coconut water can replenish the fluids lost during exercise and day-to-day activity efficiently and rapidly.
