Why you should avoid breakfast cereals

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, we need to put something rich with vitamins, minerals and high quality nutrients in our body so we can be our best, all day long.   When we think of breakfast one of the major options (and usually the quickest and easiest) is breakfast cereals, and with so many on the market it can be difficult to choose sometimes.  I bet what you didn’t know is all the sugar and preservatives that are hiding out in your breakfast cereal.  Diets high in sugar can be linked to overweight/obesity, diabetes and dental caries and breakfast cereals are loaded with sugar!!

Not only is sugar one of the main ingredients in your favorite breakfast cereal, you can almost be guaranteed to find; genetically modified ingredients, preservatives, artificial dyes and extremely refined ingredients.  When you refine a product/ingredient you are stripping it of all its nutritional benefit and usually changing the color through bleaching etc; these are toxins you do not want in your body!!  Your best bet for breakfast cereals is to choose an organic option, of even better create your own cereal mix, so you know exactly what ingredients you are putting into your body. 

Consuming breakfast cereal for the first meal of the day is one of the worst ways to start your day, instead why don’t you try porridge, eggs on multigrain or even fresh fruit and yoghurt!! Anything you make from scratch yourself will do wonders to your body, energy levels and health.
