4 hacks for healthier Mexican food

Mexican food is so delicious, and not very healthy for us.  If your anything like us and get those tasty Mexican cravings do we have good news and some tips on how to keep Mexican healthy, nutritious and tasty (without loosing that signature flavour).  Here is how to keep your Mexican fresh and tasty!

 

DIY SAUCES

Instead of buying store brought or pre-made Mexican sauces/dressings, opt for a fresh homemade salsa which can be full of flavour!  Store bought sauces can be quite tasty, however this is mostly because they are full of salts and additives to keep them from expiring!

 

SWAP FLOUR TORTILLAS FOR LETTUCE LEAVES

Its time to sang chow bow up your Mexican!  Next time your cooking tacos, swap your tortilla wrap for a crunch leaf of ice berg lettuce! 

 

SAY GOODBYE TO SOUR CREAM

Do not freak out, saying good bye to sour cream and hello to a healthy alternative is easy.  Choose Greek yoghurt!  Its just a yummy as sour cream with much less fat! You can have your creamy flavours without the calories!

 

DO NOT FRY IT

Always bake over frying.  Frying requires a lot of oil which has a long list of negative effects on our body!  Char grill, bake or Sautee but do not fry!
