  1. Bisphenol A (BPA); a chemical used in plastic production. You can avoid BPA by switching to glass products where possible
  2. Oxybenzone; a chemical used in cosmetics such as sunscreens, lip balms and moisturizers. Always read the ingredients of your cosmetics
  3. Fluoride; is found in toothpaste and tap water. Check your tap water for fluoride levels
  4. Parabens; a synthetic preservative found in products such as moisturizers, hair care and shaving products. Choose paraben-free products.
  5. Phthalates; Chemicals found in plastic products such as toys, raincoats, shower curtains, vinyl flooring, detergents, food packaging and shampoos! Choose phthalate free varieties
  6. Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA); An additive that preserves fats and oils in foods and cosmetics, can be found in gum, snack food, diaper creams. Always read the labels of your foods and choose organic where possible.
  7. Perflurooctanoic Acid (PFOA); a component of Teflon and non stick coating that can be found in tap water and non stick pots and pans. Avoid heating empty Teflon cookware to high temperatures.
  8. Perchlorate; An oxidant in rocket fuel which can be found in drinking water, soil, and some vegetables. Choose organic vegetable varieties and if your water is rich in this toxin purchase a water filter.
  9. Decabromodiphenyl Ether; A flame retardant that can be found in electronics, furniture and carpets. The chemical is being phased out but be careful if you have old furniture.
  10. Asbestos; a naturally occurring mineral that is found in housing insulation, drywall and artificial fireplace logs. Please get professionals in when renovating to check asbestos levels in your home.
