8 Natural Remedies for Constipation

Constipation is an uncomfortable issue most of us have to deal with at one stage, and for others can be a recurring issue.  Constipation is more prevalent in females which is why we are always complaining and suffering from nasty bloating.  The good news is that there are some simple preventative methods we can take to reduce or resolve constipation.

 

  1. Drink Plenty of water.
    Keeping the body, and colon hydrated will assist the body’s waste removal mechanisms.  Your water consumption will need to be consistent to reduce or stop prolonged cases of constipation.  You want to drink over 2 litres of water daily and in hot weather, or when you exercise water consumption needs to be increased even more!
  1. Eat plenty of fibre.
    Fibre acts as the broom of the digestive tract, sweeping and eliminating the body of toxins and assists and prevents chronic constipation. Fibre rich foods include leafy greens, carrots, cherries, pears, apples and broccoli.  Aim to include a variety of these foods in your diet every day.

  2. Exercise!!
    Exercise stimulates the contraction and relaxation of muscles that support good bowel movements and reduce constipation.
  1. Magnesium supplement.
    This micronutrient assists to gently relax the nervous system and increase bowel movements. Magnesium supplements are a simple, natural and relatively inexpensive remedy for constipation.

  1. Keep stress to a minimum
