Make your own popsicles

Posted by Health Boutique on

You would be amazed at how surprisingly easy it can be to make your own popsicles.  Store bought popsicles can have a tone of added flavours, preservatives and sugar, that are not only unnecessary but also unwanted as they should be limited in our diets.  We have a couple of our favourite popsicle recipes ready for you to try.

Blueberry Lemonade

3 lemons (½ cup of lemon juice)

½ cup beet sugar

1 cup hot water

2 cups cold water

½ cup blueberries

1/ Squeeze as much juice as you can out of the blueberries (you can even blitz in a blender)

2/ Strain the lemon juice and blueberry juice through a strainer

3/ Heat the cup of water to boil in a small saucepan, add the sugar and stir to dissolve

4/ Let cool

5/ In a large bowl add the lemon and blueberry juice mixture, sugar water and 2 cups of cold water

6/ Let cool and fill your popsicle molds with the mixture

Strawberry Watermelon Popsicles

3 heaped cups cubed watermelon

1 heaped cup of fresh strawberries (leaves removed)

zest and juice of 1 lime

1/ Place all ingredients in a blender and puree until completely smooth.

2/ Pour into popsicle molds and freeze over night
