See exercise as an opportunity not an inconvenience

Of a day there are so many wasted opportunities to exercise:

  • Walk to the store instead of drive
  • Take the stairs not the lift
  • Take a walk on your lunch break
  • Park further away from work, and walk the remaining distance
  • Ride your bike to work
  • Take your dog for a walk

All these little things add up to burn huge calories!

 

Limit use of electronic media for entertainment

All that sedentary time watching a screen can be spent out doors participating in group activities or sports.  Low levels of using electronic media are associated with reduced health risks.

 

Set your alarm Early

Becoming a morning person means you will get your work out over and done with nice and early, then it does not not have to cross your mind for the rest of the day.  Going to bed earlier means getting the gym out of the way earlier!

 

Eat more green and less white!

Eating more fresh and green fresh fruit and veg and less refined “white” products such as rice and bread could be the best health advice you will ever get.  There foods provide sustainable energy that our body can use all day, whereas refined products such as rice give us a quick supply of energy that plateaus rapidly leaving us feel tired and sluggish.
